About the Earle-Harrison House and Pape Gardens:
The Earle-Harrison House was built in 1858, and is the only restored antebellum home in Waco. The Greek Revival mansion was originally the home of Dr. Baylis Wood Earle and his wife, Ann Eliza Harrison Earle.

It's an impressive structure with large rooms, 14-foot-high ceilings and walkthrough windows that open onto verandas. The interior of the Earle-Harrison House is furnished and decorated with 19th-century heirlooms, some of them donated by the Earle and Harrison families and others donated by other Waco citizens.

The Pape Gardens are named for Nell Pape, who founded the foundation that began restoring the Earle-Harrison House. The Pape Foundation still maintains the house and its grounds, which cover five acres and includes manicured lawns, towering trees, a fish pond and a 75-foot rose arbor.

The Earle-Harrison House and Pape Gardens are open daily for tours, with a small admission fee. On the first and third Saturdays of each month, costumed docents lead tours.
