Goliad

Goliad, Texas
Goliad is one of our favorite small towns in Texas, with several important historic sites - such as Presidio La Bahia and Mission Espiritu Santo - a pretty park along the San Antonio River and a quaint town square.

It's also one of the oldest towns in Texas, having been occupied well before history started being recorded in this area, and played an important role in the Texas Revolution.

It was in Goliad that Col. James Fannin and his men were marched to a spot in a field near the Presidio and massacred by Mexican troops during the Revolution. A large monument now stands on the spot.
