About the Haley Memorial Library and History Center:
The Haley Memorial Library and History Center is an independent, charitable institution that works to preserve the history of Texas and the American Southwest. The library is named for J. Evetts Haley, who for 50 years worked to accumulate the materials that now make up the library's collection.

Those materials include more than 30,000 volumes covering Southwestern and frontier topics, such as the development of ranching, early railroads, and Western settlement.

The library also houses extensive collections on the Lincoln County War and on Billy the Kid.

The other component of the Haley Memorial Library and History Center is its art and artifacts collection. The library has a permanent collection of fine Western art by some of the leading artists of the genre. In addition are historical artifacts, including the original bronze bell of the Alamo, cast in 1722.

The Haley Memorial Library and History Center is open Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. There is no charge for admission or research.
