About Lake Granbury:
Lake Granbury is a very pretty body of water that is straddled by the charming town of Granbury.

The lake was created in 1969 when the Brazos River was impounded. Because the river flowed through Granbury on a northwest-to-southeast axis, that is now the general area covered by this very linear reservoir.

Lake Granbury covers around 8,300 acres with a maximum depth of 75 feet, and is 35 miles long. Water skiing, kayaking and jetskiing are popular on its water. The Granbury city beach is located at 601 Pearl Street and is the location for swimmers.

Fishing is also very popular on Lake Granbury, with the lake considered a good spot for largemouth bass, sunfish, catfish, white bass and striped bass.

There have also been a few reports over the years of a mysterious "sea serpent" or "lake monster," along the lines of Nessie. However, this is an absurd notion for several reasons - as is pointed out here.
