About the Lubbock Lake Landmark:
Lubbock Lake Landmark is an archeological and natural history preserve on the north side of Lubbock, just minutes from the Museum of Texas Tech University that administers the site.
The Lubbock Lake Landmark is one of the premier archeological sites in North America, and archeological digs still take place (an Archeology Field Session is scheduled every year June 1-Aug. 31). Twelve-thousand years of human occupation of the Southern High Plains has been traced through artifacts and evidence found at the Lubbock Lake Landmark.
Visitors can take self-guided tours of the area, or, when Field Sessions are in progress, observe excavations. Guided tours and group tours can also be arranged. Also on site is the Robert A. Nash Interpretive Center, which includes exhibits, an auditorium and a visitors center.
The Lubbock Lake Landmark is open to visitors Tuesday-Saturday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays 1-5 p.m. Admission is free.
