Fort Worth - Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo
One of the largest events of its kind in the U.S., it's a 3-week-long extravaganza featuring dozens of rodeo performances and dozens of great musicians performing. It usually starts in mid-January and lasts into early February. If you're in Fort Worth at this time of year, it's a must-see.
Mission - Texas Citrus Fiesta
Citrus is a major crop in the Rio Grande Valley, and this festival celebrates its importance to the area. Parades, bands, floats, coronations, food and frivolity abound.
Port Arthur - Janis Joplin Birthday Bash
A one-day (or one-night, actually) event honoring Port Arthur native Janis Joplin. Live music is, of course, dedicated to Joplin's songs.
